ECOROADS Italian National Workshop on 7th September 2015
The Workshop was held on 7th September 2015 in the School of Engineering at Sapienza-University of Rome. The workshop dealt with “Tunnel and Road Infrastructures Safety: risk analysis and safety inspections”. The aim was to promote an exchange of experience between the Italian road managers and the public authority for tunnels. The workshop was divided in two sessions:
1. Presentations by university researchers and members of the Italian Tunnels Authority (Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti –Commissione Permanente per le Gallerie)
2. Panel discussion with Italian roads managers.
More than 40 people attended the meeting, coming from private and public road Companies, Authorities and Universities from Italy.
The need of achieving a detailed and in-depth knowledge about the technical characteristics of roads and tunnels has been underlined. Particularly, the characteristics and the conditions of the horizontal alignment and the roadway as well as plant equipment should be investigated.
These aspects appear important, in relation to the reliability of the risk analysis models. In order to understand these issues and to improve the level of knowledge, the ECOROADS approach appears particularly promising. Namely the integration of inspections with the joint presence of different experts, able to collect all the information needed for the risk analysis, has been considered very positive from all the audience of the workshop.
